How Did I Find About The Viral Hepatitis B Disease that I Had? A Retrospective Analysis Study

Objective: This study was designed for the evaluation of records of patients who were referred to infectious disease outpatient clinics with pre-diagnosis of hepatitis B infection. Materials and Methods: A retrospective survey was conducted on patients with hepatitis B disease between November 2011 and May 2012. The data used in this study was obtained from the medical files. These data were analyzed by using the SPSS 15.0 statistics programme. Results: 154 patients were involved in the survey. 144 (93.50%) of them were male and 10 (6.5%) were female patients. Whilst 104 (67.53%) of those patients were married, 50 (32.46%) of them were single. The mean age was 27.20±5.04 years (min 20, max 74). 53 (34.41%) of all patients have found out about their disease after a microbiological scanning test. This test was introduced for a blood donation campaign for Red Crescent. Conclusion: This survey confirms the need and necessity of scanning tests for the different aims and educational facilities to early diagnosis of patients with hepatitis B infection and prevent to transmission of illness.(Viral Hepatitis Journal 2012; 19(1): 32-5)
